How to do the Cable Glute Kickback

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Ankle strap attached to a low pulley, facing the machine, holding it for balance, strap on the working leg.

  1. Kick your leg straight back by extending at the hip, squeezing your glute hard at the end of the movement.

  2. Keep your torso stable and avoid using your lower back to add extra range.

  3. Return under control to the starting position.

Common mistakes

  • Arching the lower back to gain more range instead of stopping where real hip extension ends.

  • Swinging the leg with momentum instead of a controlled, glute-driven kick.
