Detail

A freestanding handstand holds the body inverted, straight, and stacked (wrists-shoulders-hips-ankles) with no support. Balance is controlled mainly by the forearms and fingers: pressing the fingertips into the floor corrects falling forward, easing pressure corrects falling backward, with the deltoids and a tight hollow-body-hold keeping the line rigid. It combines the inverted shoulder strength built earlier with fine balance (proprioception).

Reached by kicking up away from the wall (kick-up-to-handstand) and learning to catch the balance, then accumulating hold time. Always train where you can bail safely (cartwheel or pirouette out). Once stable, it enables the freestanding handstand-push-up. Practice frequently in short, fresh sets — balance improves with repetition, not fatigue.
