A combination of exercises assembled to work a specific muscle or muscle group.
A routine is a combination of exercises to work a specific muscle/muscle group. It is the basic unit of program construction one level above the individual exercise: a routine groups several exercises together (e.g. for a single body part, or a full session) so that the target muscle/muscle group is trained thoroughly.
This is the general definitional term; specific implementations of "routine" appear elsewhere in the graph — e.g. split-routine (which body parts are grouped on which days) or a named sample program.
