How to do the EZ-Bar Skull Crusher

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Lie on a bench (decline is more effective), EZ-curl bar held straight above your chest at the angled grip sections, elbows pointing at the ceiling.

  1. Lower the bar toward your forehead by bending your elbows, keeping your upper arms still and vertical.

  2. Extend your elbows back to full lockout.

  3. The EZ-curl bar's angled grip is preferred here specifically for wrist comfort under this loaded, overhead-arm position.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the upper arms swing back toward your head instead of staying fixed.

  • Lowering the bar too far back toward the top of your head instead of your forehead/temples, which changes the joint loading unfavorably.
