Side-lying horizontal abduction is listed as an exercise for the posterior deltoid. The posterior deltoid performs horizontal abduction, backward extension, and external rotation; the key training movement is horizontal abduction (extension). The posterior deltoid is the most under-emphasized of the three deltoid heads, and its movements are rarely done properly.
