A single-leg balance posture — foot placed on the inner ankle, calf, or thigh — that trains proprioception, ankle/hip stability, and focus.
From mountain pose, shift weight onto one leg, then place the sole of the other foot against the inner ankle, calf, or upper inner thigh (never on the side of the knee). Press foot and leg into each other for stability, level the hips, lengthen the spine, and bring the hands to heart or overhead. Fix the gaze on a still point (drishti) to steady the balance.
A foundational standing balance drill that develops single-leg stability and proprioception (exercise-single-leg-stand, proprioception) — directly relevant to fall prevention (fall-prevention-overview). Use a wall or chair for support when learning.
