A front-facing standing lunge with arms overhead — builds lower-body strength and stretches the rear hip flexor while training stance stability.
From a long split stance, bend the front knee toward 90° tracking over (not past) the toes (knee-toe-relationship); keep the rear leg straight with the back foot angled ~45°. Square the hips and chest toward the front, lift the arms overhead, and keep the spine long without over-arching the lower back. Gaze forward or up.
Builds quadriceps and glute strength on the front leg, stretches the rear hip flexors (stretch-quads-hip-flexors-kneeling), and challenges stance balance. Shorten the stance or keep hands on hips to reduce difficulty.
