How to do the Cable Pull-Through

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Stand facing away from a low pulley, rope between your legs, feet shoulder-width, holding the rope behind you.

  1. Hinge forward at your hips (like the start of a deadlift), letting the cable pull your hands back between your legs, keeping your back flat.

  2. Drive your hips forward to stand up straight, squeezing your glutes at the top.

  3. Reverse under control back into the hinge.

Common mistakes

  • Squatting the movement (bending the knees a lot) instead of hinging at the hips.

  • Rounding the lower back at the bottom of the hinge instead of keeping it flat and neutral.
