Heat exposure — dry/infrared sauna, hot baths, heat wraps — is widely used for "recovery." What the evidence supports:

  • Relaxation / stress relief: sauna is reliably calming and pleasant, with parasympathetic shift and stress reduction (link stress-management).
  • Cardiovascular and longevity associations: observational data (notably Finnish cohort studies) associate frequent sauna use with lower cardiovascular and all-cause mortality; these are associations, not proof of causation.
