How to do the Banded Ankle Inversion

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Seated, band anchored to a fixed point, looped around the inside of your foot, leg extended.

  1. Turn the sole of your foot inward against the band's resistance (inversion -- this moves weight toward the outer edge of the foot), keeping your lower leg still.

  2. Return under control to the starting position.

Common mistakes

  • Rotating the whole leg at the hip instead of isolating the movement at the ankle/foot.

  • Jerking through the range instead of a controlled, deliberate turn.
