How to do the Banded Ankle Eversion

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Seated, band anchored to a fixed point, looped around the outside of your foot, leg extended.

  1. Turn the sole of your foot outward against the band's resistance (eversion -- this moves weight toward the inner edge of the foot), keeping your lower leg still.

  2. Return under control to the starting position.

Common mistakes

  • Rotating the whole leg at the hip instead of isolating the movement at the ankle/foot.

  • Using a band with too little tension to feel real resistance through the range.
