How to do the EZ Bar Curl

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Grip the angled sections of the bar at roughly carrying-angle width -- this is the main reason to reach for an EZ bar, since the angled grip is easier on the wrists.

  1. Curl the bar up by flexing at the elbow only, keeping your upper arms fixed at your sides.

  2. Squeeze at the top, then lower under control to full arm extension.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting the same biceps emphasis as a straight bar -- the angled grip is easier on the wrists but works the biceps somewhat less directly than a straight bar.

  • Swinging the body to start the weight moving.

How the knowledge graph models this movement

Each joint action, with the role and emphasis the graph assigns each muscle. These are qualitative anatomical labels, not measured muscle activation.
