How to do the Low-to-High Cable Fly

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Set both pulleys to their lowest position, stand centered between them, one handle in each hand.

  1. Sweep both handles up and in front of you in a wide arc, finishing with your hands near or above eye level.

  2. Squeeze your chest at the top of the movement -- the upward cable path shifts emphasis toward the upper chest, the opposite of a high-to-low crossover.

  3. Return under control to the starting position, resisting the cable the whole way back.

Common mistakes

  • Using your shoulders to shrug the weight up instead of leading with your chest.

  • Letting the cables snap your arms back down on the return instead of controlling the stretch.
