Detail

The front squat uses a "bar in front" placement (versus high-bar back squat and low-bar power back squat). All four quadriceps are involved. Squat to a position close to parallel to the floor (full ROM is not recommended for squats — quads parallel to the floor is the safety range). Do not lock out the knee; keep proper spinal alignment (muscles in semi-isometric contraction, S-shape spine); keep feet about shoulder width apart. Understand the femur-length-vs-torso-length, knee-toe, hip-knee, and knee-foot relationships. Check the position of the bar.
