Training endurance and strength together can blunt strength, power, and hypertrophy gains compared with strength training alone — the "interference effect" — but the effect is modest and largely manageable by how the two are programmed.
Concurrent training is performing both endurance (cardio) and resistance training within the same program. The interference effect, first described by Robert Hickson in 1980, is the observation that strength development can be attenuated when endurance and strength training are combined, relative to strength training done in isolation.
