How to do the Seated Hip Internal Rotation (banded)

Cues reviewed by Kwabena Osei on

Setup

Seated on a bench or chair, knees bent to 90 degrees, band anchored to one side and looped around your ankle.

  1. Rotate your lower leg inward (toward the opposite leg) against the band's resistance, keeping your knee still and your thigh from lifting off the seat.

  2. Return under control to the starting position.

Common mistakes

  • Lifting the knee or thigh off the seat to help generate the movement instead of isolating the rotation at the hip.

  • Using the whole leg to swing through the motion instead of a controlled internal rotation.
